About Khaled Waleed
Khaled Waleed is a software engineer from Baghdad who has been shipping software since the age of 14. He leads the frontend team at Qi Card — Iraq's largest electronic payment provider — where he rebuilt and redesigned seven government-scale platforms serving more than 4 million users, and he is the founder of Vitex, a design-engineering studio building products used across Iraq.
He joined the center in 2024 as Director of AI & Technology, taking ownership of its technology end to end.
On the AI side, he works with the center's researchers to bring advanced AI models into their work — accelerating studies and strengthening their findings — and advises the center on putting emerging technology to work for civic life in Iraq.
