Ishtar Center for Democracy Support hosted at its headquarters in the holy city of Najaf the Center for Middle East Studies in Ankara (ORSAM), represented by Dr. Wathiq Al-Saadoun and Dr. Selcuk Baglan.
The two sides discussed the nature and challenges of Iraqi-Turkish relations and opportunities to develop this relationship in a way that serves the interests of both countries. They discussed the importance of civil institutions and research centers and ways to enhance their roles in providing advice to policy makers in a way that supports the interests of their countries. The possibilities of cooperation, coordination and exchange of experiences between these institutions were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, an official memorandum of understanding was signed between the two centers for the purpose of cooperation in research fields and coordination of joint activities in the next stage.
