On January 21th, 2023, Ishtar Center for Democracy Support hosted at its headquarters in the capital, Baghdad, the former Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Dr. Khaled Al-Obeidi, in an open dialogue, entitled:
(Mosul…between the loss of identity and the challenges of redevelopment and reconstruction)
The session was moderated by the head of Ishtar Center, Dr. Muhammad Elwia, in the presence of a number of political, governmental, academic and youth figures. The session dealt with the reasons for the weak political role of the city of Mosul in the national arena and the problems that this city and Nineveh governorate face, such as poor successive local administrations, delay in projects, and a decline in development and reconstruction. And discuss possible political and administrative solutions.
Session recommendations:
1- Re-evaluating the performance of the Governor of Nineveh and taking the necessary governmental measures towards the governorate.
2- Re-evaluating the performance of the head of the Liberated Areas Reconstruction Fund and taking the necessary governmental measures regarding this file.
3- Reconsider the content of the Sinjar Agreement signed by the previous government.
4- Creating a state of balance between the influential poles in the western political arena.
