The participation of the head of the Ashtar Center d. Muhammad Alawia on a visit to Nineveh Governorate, which was organized by the Balaghi Academy in Najaf, in cooperation with the Finnish organization CMI for the Crisis Initiative.
The Najafi delegation included religious leaders, youth leaders and academic figures. The axes of the visit were:
- Visiting the University of Mosul and opening a direct dialogue with professors and students focused on the importance of cooperation in order to consolidate the concept of citizenship, social justice and coexistence, and confront extremism and terrorism.
- The visit of Archbishop Mikhail Najib Mikhail, Archbishop of the Chaldeans in Mosul, and congratulations and blessings for his assumption of the position by His Holiness Pope Francis, and to convey the message of Najaf calling for continuous discussion to enhance human brotherhood among all Iraqis.
- The visit of the spiritual complex of the Yazidi religion and the meeting with the late Prince Hazem bin the Yazidi Prince Tahsin Bek and in the presence of Baba Sheikh, the Yazidi religious authority. The delegation offered condolences on the death of Prince Tahsin Bey and resulted in Najaf’s continuous endeavor to consolidate the concepts of justice and citizenship and condemn all forms of injustice and marginalization of any Iraqi component.
- The visit of the Minister of Education, Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Mr. Pishtwan Sadiq, and discussions were held with him regarding the role of religious endowments in spreading the concepts of peace and coexistence among the religiously different from the same nation.
- The visit of Professor Fakhri Karim, President of the Al-Mada Foundation for Culture and Media, where an in-depth discussion was opened that includes the democratic experience in Iraq after 2003 and the role of civil institutions in its maturation and development.
