Ishtar Center for Democracy Support Welcomes the Political Counsellor of the German Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Magnus Obermann The President of Ishtar Center for Democracy Support, Dr. Mohammed Elwia, and the Center’s Director of Research Programs, Dr. Ahmed Hameed, welcomed the Political Counsellor of the German Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Magnus Obermann, in the presence of Mr. Hashem Al-Rikabi. The meeting covered several key topics, most notably the formation of the new government and its prospects for building sustainable security and stability, as well as the economic and security challenges it faces amid the ongoing developments affecting the region and the wider world. The discussion also addressed the role of the German government in supporting Iraq and its constitutional institutions in the coming phase, in a manner that strengthens democracy, advances its tools, and supports the Iraqi state in becoming an active actor within its regional environment and the international community.
